Product Questions

What is Corona discharge? and is it safe?
E-Mask is superior to other ioniser devices because it uses Corona discharge which is a much more effective technology to create a “pure air” breathing zone for the wearer, repelling, incinerating, or oxidising any particulates prior to it entering the mouth, nose & eyes.

The size and type of particulate is immaterial, it can be the most lethal pathogen known to man and as long as it measures between 3,000 and 40 nanometers and is affected by diffusion, turbulence, gravity and electrostatics the E-Mask will offer an effective barrier.

Corona Discharge is entirely safe and has been used as an effective means of purification for decades by the military and in industry. Corona discharge technology has been used by the military, to destroy toxic biological and nerve agents in the field and in laboratories, and in industry manufacturing “clean rooms” for years.

How does Minimate differ from a HEPA filter?
HEPA filtration devices capture particles (down to 0.3 micron in size), and the filters need to be replaced. E-Mask is a cold incineration device which actually destroys the airborne contaminants. Different contaminants are neutralised and destroyed in different manners, depending on their chemical properties. E-Mask is not a filtration device, and no parts need to be replaced or serviced.

What causes the air to flow from the device? Is there a fan inside?
No, there is not a fan. E-Mask’s negative corona discharge sets up a powerful, electro-dynamically driven airflow, drawing pollutants into it and ejecting purified air at a velocity of up to 90 feet per minute.

Is E-Mask an ozone generator?
No. Although one of the by-products of corona discharge is a small output of ozone.

Is the level of ozone output safe?
Yes. OSHA guidelines define permissible ozone exposure limits at 100 parts per billion. E-Mask emits between 26 and 28 parts of ozone per billion, or less than 30% of OSHA permissible levels. However, those who are sensitive to low levels of ozone should not use the Minimate.

How long will batteries last in the E-Mask unit?
The E-Mask is very power efficient using lithium (CR123A) batteries that last for up to 60 continuous hours.

How should Minimate be cleaned?
Once a week, blow into the screen to eliminate any carbonized accumulation on the emitter or the screen. Also, wipe the grill screen clean. There are no user serviceable parts inside the E-Mask. To clean allow the E-Mask to run for 1 or 2 hours to self clean itself, at least once per week.

Is the E-Mask a medical device?
NO. These are not medical devices. Users should not eliminate any medical therapy programs unless advised by a physician. If you have a pacemaker please consult your physician before using E-Mask.

Are other products as effective as E-Mask?
NO. Other companies have been marketing their own version of portable air purifiers, but none are as small, powerful and none have been extensively tested and clinically proven to work.

The E-Mask features exceptional battery service life of up to 60 continuous hours using an on-chip battery regulator.
The housing is constructed of aviation type polycarbonate plastic for long life and durability and measures an incredibly tiny 2.5″ (63mm) x 1.5″ (38mm) x .85″ (21.5 mm). The unit is so small it can be carried on a key ring so you never leave home without it.
