Current respirator technology with
elasticized straps and bands is
imperfect from the standpoint of safety,
personal protection and fit and has
never been tested or certified by NIOSH
for Total Inward Leakage (TIL).
N95's with elastic bands/straps are
considered entry level protection and
will effectively remove only 95% of
harmful airborne particles through the
filter, but as much as an additional 10%
of harmful airborne particles can pass
between the filter and the face.
Filter efficiency by itself provides the
wearer with a false sense of security.
Without an effective and reliable seal
between the respirator and the wearers
face, safety and protection are
compromised.
